Leadership Development Program at RIT

TEQIP-III Sponsored Three-Days FDP on “Leadership Development”, conducted by the School of Management, RIT from 20-01-2020 to 22-01-2020

The School of Management, Roorkee Institute of Technology, Roorkee, organized a TEQIP-III Sponsored Three-Days FDP on “Leadership Development”from 20-01-2020 to 22-01-2020. The FDP aimed to upgrade teaching, training, communication and leadership skills in the faculties of RIT and from adjoining areas of Roorkee. This program enabled the participants to develop an appreciation for the changing roles and responsibilities of the teachers and to prepare for the same. About 65 participants had participated in this program. The program started with the registration at 9:00 am on 20th January followed by the inaugural function. Dr. Nirmesh Sharma, Assistant Professor, School of Management, presided over the event and gave a brief of the proposed topics/themes to be discussed in the Program. The first two sessions on 20-1-2020 were handled by Dr. Umesh Kumar, (Assistant Professor-HRM & OB), IIM-Amritsar. Dr. Kumar delivered a thought-provoking lecture on introduction of leadership with special emphasis on artificial intelligence.  The third session was carried out by Dr. Yogesh Shelke, regarding stress management and how to overcome stress at workplace. On 21-1-2020, during third and fourth session Prof. Leena Barshikar from Kohinoor Business School, Mumbai highlighted the need of Talent management in present day academic institutions. She involved all the participants in Live-situations to make them understand the role of talent management. The fifth session was initiated by Prof. Gul Shivnani, Motivational Counselor, Mumbai. Prof. Shivnani gave a brief of how to keep ourselves motivated in tough situations. On 22-1-2020, during sixth session of the FDP, Dr. Rajat Agarwal (Associate Professor), DoMS IIT-Roorkee had elaborated  on the importance of team building and counseling. By citing examples of great leaders Dr. Agarwal briefed participants the traits one should have to be successful at professional front. The session was followed by Feedback from the participants. Afterwards Dr. Aruna Bhat, Head School of Management gave a valedictory note and thanked all the people who remain cooperative during the event. She also stated the responsibilities of a teacher as leader and advised them to update their leadership skills. Further Prof. A.K Mathur Director General, RIT gave his blessings and motivated all the participants’ to be a part of such events. During end note Prof. (Dr.) Parag Jain, Director – RIT appreciated the whole cast and crew, School of Management for the successful completion, and the participants to remain vibrant during the FDP. In his address, Prof. Jain also emphasized the significance of the FDP and importance of leadership skills for the academicians. At last during culmination of the event certificates were distributed to the participants and finally the program was ended with the clicking of group photo ceremony.  Mr. Harshit Gautam, Mr. Akshat Agarwal, Ms. Megha Bhatia and Mr. Amit Kumar Rawat were also present during the event.
