RIT Entrepreneurship Development Cell

RIT Roorkee, Department of Management Studies, inaugurated the E- Cell on 25th November 2019. The inauguration was done by Dr Ajit K. Nigam (Associate Dean- Incubation Center, UPES, Dehradun) in association with Startup Uttarakhand in presence of Dr Parag Jain (Director, RIT Roorkee), Mr. Amit Kumar Rawat, Dr Aruna Bhat (HOD Management), Prof. Ajay Singh, Dr Amit Tanwar, Dr Deepak Arya, Mr Vishal Sharma and other faculties.

 

The inauguration was followed by welcoming the dignitaries. Dr Nirmesh Sharma (Assistant Professor- Management Department) addressed the event and gave floral welcome to the guests. After saying a few words about Dr Nigam, she highlighted the importance of opening an E-Cell in the institute and motivating the students to participate actively in the E- Cell activities.

 

Dr. Nigam interacted with the students of B.Tech (first and second-year) and MBA by making them understand what actually a start up is. He emphasized on inculcating the feeling of entrepreneurship amongst students. Further Mr. Mohit Nagpal (Assistant Professor – UPES, Dehradun) gave valuable insights on the difference between an Entrepreneur and a Manager. He also explained various schemes run by Start-Up Uttarakhand and MSME. Mr Vaibhav Mishra (President E Cell -UPES, Dehradun) detailed about startup events held on regular-basis in UPES, Dehradun and most importantly the ways through which an idea can easily be transformed into a Business Product.

 

Dr Nigam further interacted with faculties from various departments and solved the queries asked by the faculties during the interaction. He emphasized on conducting various activities based on Startups and how the government of Uttarakhand is helping the young entrepreneurs in starting these start-ups. He discussed the various guidelines of Uttarakhand government and listed the ten major sectors where students can take up a problem pertaining to society and get it solved.

 

Mr. Vaibhav Mishra elaborated on the various activities conducted at UPES viz. “Stratagem, Ted-Ex-UPES, Business Plan competitions” and other such activities where students can participate and learn to refine their raw ideas into presentable ones. The faculties also play a role in motivating students and giving them a proper direction.
